LAZID TABLETS

Lazid
Tablet is a nucleoside analogue. It is used in combination with other
medications to treat HIV infection. It functions by
interfering with the growth of the HIV infection.

Lamivudine prevents the
multiplication of HIV virus in human cells. Thus stops the HIV virus from
producing new viruses.

MEDICINE USES:

Lamivudine is used in the
treatment of HIV infection and chronic hepatitis B
virus (HBV) infection.

On using
this medication you may experience side effects such as nausea, joint
pain, difficulty sleeping, diarrhea, cough, dizziness,
swelling of the mouth, headache, reduced appetite, weakness, vomiting,
darkening of the urine, numbness, mental/ mood disorders, ear
pain, itchiness, sore throat and chest pain. If
your reactions persist or worsen over time seek the help of your health care
provider right away.

Before
using this medication tell your doctor if; you are allergic to any ingredient
contained within Lazid Tablet, you are taking any other medications especially
emtricitabine and zalcitabine, you have enlarged liver/ high levels of lactic
acid/ abnormal liver functioning/ muscle problems/ kidney problems/ lactic acidosis
nerve disorder/ pancreas problem, you are overweight, you are pregnant or
are planning to become pregnant or are nursing a baby.

LAZID TABLETS COMMON SIDE EFFECT:

Lazid
Tablet may cause some unwanted effects too. In such cases, you must seek
medical attention immediately. This is not an exhaustive list of side effects.
Please inform your doctor if you experience any adverse reaction to the
medication.

Take this medicine in the
dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not
chew, crush or break it. Lazid N Tablet may be taken with or without food, but
it is better to take it at a fixed time.

Fatigue, Headache, Nausea,
Vomiting, Abdominal pain, Dizziness, Ear infection, Nasal infection, Throat
infection, Sore throat, Skin rash, Muscle pain, Fever, Chills, Diarrhoea.

LAZID TABLETS- DRUG PRECAUTIONS:

Consult
your doctor if you have diabetes and are using insulin.

Patients
receiving this therapy are always at a risk for infections and hence should
report any such cases to the doctor.

Consult
your doctor if you take any prescription medication; Inform your doctor if you
take other medicine for treatment of HIV or hepatitis B infection, hairy cell
leukemia a type of blood cancer or antibiotics for infection.

Lamivudine
may rarely cause a serious side effect like lactic acidosis with symptoms such
as pain or weakness of muscle, numbness or feeling cold in arms or legs,
stomach pain, nausea, vomiting, lack of breath, aberrant heart rate, dizziness,
weak or tired feeling; hence, inform the doctor immediately if you experience
any of these symptoms.

LAZID TABLETS- DRUG INTERACTIONS: 

It
is possible to pass on HIV when on this medication and hence it is important to
take necessary precautions to prevent HIV from spreading.

Inform
you doctor if you notice signs of change in the distribution of fat
(lipodystrophy), erosion of bones (osteronecrosis), or inflammation of pancreas
(pancreatitis).

If
you are on therapy it is important to use effective non hormonal method of
contraception or condom so that a pregnancy can be avoided.

Use
with caution in pediatric patients with a history of pancreatitis or other
significant risk factors for pancreatitis.

 

ABOUT LEDIFOS

LEDIFOS is a combination of two hepatitis C virus (HCV) antiviral drugs in a single form. Each single tablet contains ledipasvir and sofosbuvir.

MEDICINAL USES :

LEDIFOS is a combination of ledipasvir and sofosbuvir and is used to treat chronic (long-lasting) hepatitis C, a viral infection of the liver. It may sometimes be used with another antiviral medication (ribavirin). These drugs work by reducing the amount of hepatitis C virus in your body, which helps your immune system fight the infection and may help your liver recover.

LEDIFOS SIDE EFFECTS :

Tiredness, headache, nausea, diarrhea, or difficulty sleeping may occur. If any of these effects persist or worsen, tell your doctor or pharmacist promptly.

A very serious allergic reaction to this drug is rare. However, get medical help right away if you notice any symptoms of a serious allergic reaction, including: rash, itching/swelling (especially of the face/tongue/throat), severe dizziness, trouble breathing.

SAFETY INFORMATION (Precautions) :

    Before taking ledipasvir/sofosbuvir, tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are allergic to either of the drugs; or if you have any other allergies. This product may contain inactive ingredients, which can cause allergic reactions or other problems. Talk to your pharmacist for more details.
    Before using this medication, tell your doctor or pharmacist your medical history, especially of: kidney disease.
    Before having surgery, tell your doctor or dentist about all the products you use (including prescription drugs, nonprescription drugs, and herbal products).
    During pregnancy, this medication should be used only when clearly needed. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor. Ledipasvir/sofosbuvir, in combination with ribavirin, must not be used during pregnancy by either the pregnant woman or her male partner. The combination may harm an unborn baby. Two reliable forms of birth control (such as condoms, birth control pills) must be used whenever at least one sexual partner is using these medicines together, and for six months after stopping treatment. If you or your partner becomes pregnant, or if you think you or your partner may be pregnant, tell your doctor right away.
    It is unknown if this medication passes into breast milk. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding. Breast-feeding is not recommended if this medication is used in combination with ribavirin.

PROPER STORAGE OF LEDIFOS :

Store Ledifos at room temperature below 86°F (30°C).

LEDIFOS INTERACTIONS :

Some products that may interact with this drug include: amiodarone, a certain other medication used to treat chronic hepatitis C (simeprevir).

This medication can slow down the removal of other medications from your body, which may affect how they work. One example is rosuvastatin, among others.

Other medications can affect the removal of ledipasvir/sofosbuvir from your body, which may affect how this medication works. Examples include rifamycins (such as rifampin, rifabutin), St. John’s wort, tipranavir/ritonavir, drugs used to treat seizures (such as phenobarbital, carbamazepine, phenytoin), among others.

Do not take this medication with other products that contain sofosbuvir.
