Imatinib Mesylate is a targeted therapy.
Imatinib Mesylate is classified as a signal transduction inhibitor –
protein-tyrosine kinase inhibitor. Imatinib mesylate belongs to the signal
transduction inhibitor category of targeted therapies.  It is particularly
a protein-tyrosine kinase inhibitor.

MEDICINE USES:

Imatinib Mesylate is used for newly
diagnosed adult and pediatric patients with Philadelphia chromosome positive
chronic myeloid leukemia (Ph+ CML) in chronic phase. Ph+ CML in blast crisis,
accelerated phase, or chronic phase after failure of interferon-alpha therapy.
Adult patients with relapsed or refractory Philadelphia chromosome + acute
lymphoblastic leukemia (Ph+ ALL). Adult patients with
myelodysplastic/myeloproliferative diseases (MDS/MPD) associated with PDGFR
gene rearrangements. Gastrointestinal stromal tumors that are C-kit positive.

Imanib 100 mg Capsule is used to treat and prevent the growth of certain
types of cancers of the blood cells, stomach, intestine, bone marrow, and skin.

IMANIB TABLETS COMMON SIDE EFFECT:

Common side effects include; Acne-like
rash is reported very commonly. Other common adverse effects include: diarrhea,
nausea, vomiting, anorexia, hair loss.

Nausea, Rash, Vomiting, Musculoskeletal
(bone, muscle or joint) pain, Edema, Abdominal pain, Fatigue, Diarrhoea, Muscle
cramp.

Imanib 100 mg Capsule is an anti-cancer
medication. It works by blocking the action of the abnormal protein that

Severe skin reaction-fever, sore
throat, swelling in your face or tongue, burning in your eyes, skin pain,
followed by a red or purple skin rash that spreads (especially in the face or

IMANIB TABLETS- DRUG PRECAUTIONS:

Take this medicine in the
dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not
chew, crush or break it. Imanib 100 mg Capsule is to be taken with food.

Always
take Imanib with food and a full glass of water.

Do
not change the dose or discontinue use without consulting your doctor.

Imanib
may cause dizziness or blurred vision. If this happens to you, do not drive or
use machinery.

Water
retention and swelling are very common side effects of Imanib. Notify your
doctor if you have unexpected rapid weight gain.

Notify
your doctor about all the medications you are taking, including over the
counter medicines and dietary supplements.

IMANIB TABLETS- DRUG INTERACTION:

This medicine should be used with caution in patients having conditions
like thrombocytopenia, agranulocytosis, anemia, or bone marrow suppression due
to the increased risk of worsening of the patient’s condition. A complete blood
count should be performed before initiating treatment with this medicine. Close
monitoring of blood counts is recommended during treatment with this medicine.
Appropriate dose adjustments or replacement with a suitable alternative may be
required based on the clinical condition.

Take Imanib 100 mg Capsule exactly as prescribed by the doctor. Do not
take in larger or smaller quantities than recommended. Do not take this
medicine on an empty stomach. You may require frequent blood tests and liver
function tests while taking this medicine. You may also require frequent follow-ups
with your doctor to check the progress of treatment. Do not stop the use of
this medicine without consulting your doctor.

IMATIB a chemotherapy drug that works by slowing or stopping the growth of cancer cells.

GENERIC IMATINIB TABLETS 

Imatib used for treating certain types of leukemia, certain bone marrow diseases, a certain type of skin cancer, and certain intestinal tumors (eg, gastrointestinal stromal tumors [GIST]). It may also be used to prevent cancer from growing in patients after surgical removal of GIST.

IMATIB TABLETS COMMON SIDE EFFECTS :

Ask about reliable forms of birth control while taking this medication. If you become pregnant while taking imatinib, talk to your doctor right away about the risks and benefits of this medication.
• This medication passes into breast milk. Because of possible risk to the infant, breastfeeding while using this drug is not recommended. Consult your doctor before breastfeeding.
